Norma “June” Trexler, age 84, of Vandalia, passed away Friday, August 8 at her home. Funeral services for 84 year-old Norma “June” Trexler will be Wednesday, August 13, at 10:30 a.m., at the Bethel Baptist Church in rural Vandalia. Burial will be in Ritter Cemetery in Vandalia. Friends may call Tuesday, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the church. Memorials are suggested to Ritter Cemetery or Liberty Church of Bingham. The Holt and File Funeral Home in Vandalia is in charge of arrangements.
Norma June Trexler was born March 13, 1930 in Shafter twp. Fayette Co. IL, the daughter of Ernest William and Morna (Bess) Himes. She married Maurice Trexler on August 17, 1947. June was a homemaker and bookkeeping secretary at former Vandalia Citizens Savings and Loan; a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Women of the Moose, the Democratic Party, and a former member of the Soroptimist International.
She is survived by her sons Charles Trexler and wife Joyce of Vandalia, Robert “Bob” Trexler and wife Renee of Vandalia, and Kent Trexler and wife Andrea of Rochester; brother Clarence Himes of New Mexico; sister Betty Snyder of Vandalia; grandchildren Beth, Jill, Kevin, Kyle, Jennifer, Jason, and Amy; great grandchildren Landon, Lauren, Audriana, Bryton, Alyssa, and Aaron.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Kathy Trexler, sisters Esther Trayler, Evelyn Scott, Bernice Roe, Verna Stallings; brothers Marsden Himes, Raymond Lee Himes, and Maurice Dean Himes
