Frances Marie Winkeler, age 92, of Bartelso, passed away Thursday, September 11 at Carlyle Healthcare Center. A funeral mass of Christian burial for 92 year old Frances Marie Winkeler will be Tuesday, September 16 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Bartelso. Burial will be in St. Cecilia Cemetery. Friends may call Monday, September 15 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Moss Funeral Home in Germantown. Memorials are suggested to St. Cecilia Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
Frances was born on the family farm south of Bartelso on March 23, 1922, the daughter of Frank J. and Mary E. (Bergmann) Winkeler.
For many years after grade school, she worked on the neighboring Fehrmann farm, where she was welcomed as a part of their family. She briefly worked at Moran Shoe Co. in Carlyle, but devoted her life to caring for her parents and working on the family farm. Frances was a member of St. Cecilia Church and Ladies Sodality in Bartelso.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents: her sisters: Veronica “Fronie” Rickhoff and Margaret; and her brothers; Frank G. “Bud,” John and Louis “Louie” Winkeler; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Mary Winkeler, Ben Budde, Alfred “Bigfoot” Rickhoff, Genevieve “Jenny” Winkeler, Alfred “Fritz” Fuehne; and a nephew, Steven Fuehne.
She is survived by her sisters: Christine Budde and Lu Fuehne of Bartelso; her brothers: Andy Winkeler of St. Rose and Alphonse (Kay) Winkeler of Albers; and her sisters-in-law: Virginia “Ginny” Winkeler of Beckemeyer and Marietta Winkeler of Highland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
