Margaret M. “Margie” Beckmann, age 79, of Bartelso, passed away Monday, September 15 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. A Mass of Christian Burial for 79 year old Margaret M. “Margie” Beckmann will be celebrated Friday, September 19 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Cecilia Church in Bartelso. Burial will be in St. Cecilia Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Friday from noon to service time at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Bartelso Fire Department or Bartelso Park. The Zieren Day Funeral Home in Carlyle is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Beckmann was born on September 26, 1934, in Bartelso, a daughter of Joseph G. and Isabella (Wichmann) Loepker. She married Alois G. Beckmann in Bartelso on September 20, 1955, and he survives in Bartelso.
In addition to her husband Alois, Mrs. Beckmann is also survived by her children – Debbie Schomaker and husband Stan of New Baden, Nancy Griesbaum and husband David of Okawville, Sandy Rehkemper and husband Mike of New Baden, Allen Beckmann and wife Laura of Bartelso, Joyce Schomaker and husband Dale of New Baden and Glen Beckmann and friend Tara Eversgerd of Bartelso; 15 grandchildren – Nick Schomaker and wife Anita, Kelly Ross and husband Randy, Paula Stepp and husband Curt, Jennifer Riggs and husband Josh, Jessi Biggs and husband Dusty, Jake Griesbaum and wife Alyssa, Brad Rehkemper and wife Amy, Tricia Rehkemper, Karlee Rehkemper, Nathan Beckmann and wife Jennifer, Allyn Beckmann and friend Nick Bullin, Casey Schomaker, Brent Schomaker and wife Nicole, Blake Beckmann and wife Marlene and Tommy Conway; 13 great grandchildren and she was expecting another great grandchild. Margie is also survived by her brothers and sisters – Sr. Mary Maurice, A.S.C. of Ruma, Rosemary McDowell of Fredericktown, Missouri, and Severin Loepker of Breese; her in-laws – Frances Loepker, Dot Loepker, Virginia Beckmann, Blanch Brueggemann, Helen Heidenreich, Johanna Diekemper, Mary Mueller, Leo Beckmann and wife Leona, Bernette Beckmann, Jerry Beckmann and wife Marilyn, and Alfie Beckmann and wife Helen; many nieces, nephews, and her dog – Little Buddy.
She was preceded in death by her parents – Joseph and Isabella Loepker; a daughter – Jackie Beckmann; a sister – Annie Loepker; and her brothers – Luke Loepker, Chuck Loepker, and Paul Loepker.
Mrs. Beckmann was a member of St. Cecilia Church in Bartelso. She was an estimator and office manager for Kohrmann Electric for 31 years and served as Santa Fe Township Clerk for 25 years.
