Leland Scott “Jim” Beel

Leland Scott “Jim” Beel, age 66, of Bartelso, passed away Wednesday, October 8 at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial for 66 year old Leland Scott “Jim” Beel will be celebrated Saturday, October 11 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia Church in Bartelso. Burial will be in St. Cecilia Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the church. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society. The Zieren Day Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Beel was born on June 20, 1948, in Highland, Illinois, a son of Earnest L. and Clara (Kimbro) Beel. He married Karen Clark on March 29, 1980, in St. Jacob, Illinois and she survives in Bartelso.

In addition to his wife Karen, Jim is also survived by his children – Dawn Dykes and husband Jim of Marine, Wendy Beel and significant other Mike of Dupo, Shannon Voss and husband Bryant of Bartelso, Shawn Beel and wife Jenna of Breese, and Seth Beel and wife Deanne of Bartelso; his grandchildren – Jesse Dykes and wife Melissa, Alexis Dykes, Tyler Beel and fiancé Megan, Breanna Johnson, Rylea Mueller, Paige Voss, Caleb Voss, Jacob Voss, Brady Voss, Olivia Voss, Bryson Beel, Bennett Beel, Aidan Beel, Ethan Beel, Liam Beel, and an unborn baby girl Isabella; and his great grandchildren – Asher and Aiden. Mr. Beel is also survived by a brother – Clinton Beel and wife June of Smyrna, Tennessee; his father and mother-in-law – Sonny and Marcella Clark; and his in-laws — Doris Beel, Gary Clark and wife Susan, Ron Clark and wife Melody, Jeff Clark and wife Donna, Sandy Albers and husband Dennis, Jim Clark and wife Arlene, Melinda Thole and husband David, Donna Hellmann, Paula Clark, Chris Clark and wife Karen, Lisa Kauling and husband Scott, and Rob Clark and wife Kelly.

He was preceded in death by his parents – Earnest and Clara Beel; a brother – Carl Beel, and a sister – Carol Lee Hatfield.

Jim loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and enjoyed camping. He was a talented woodworker and liked going for car rides. Mr. Beel was a member of I.B.E.W. Local 5, St. Cecilia Church, and the Bartelso Knights of Columbus.
