Su-Hwei Chang age 96 of Highland passed away Fri. Oct. 24 at St. Joseph’s hospital in Highland. Funeral services for Su-Hwei Chang will be Saturday, October 25 at 3:00pm at the Spengel-Boulanger funeral home in Highland. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice.
She was born on Saturday, March 16, 1918.
She married Yu-Hen Chang who survives.
Su-Hwei was born in China; educated in China at Kaifend Girls Teachers Academy College earning a college degree (unusual for a Chinese lady in 1940). She fled to Taiwan after WW II on December 27, 1948. She and her husband lived and reared their family in Taiwan for 30 years. They moved to the United States in 1978, and lived in New Baden and then Highland. In Taiwan, she taught Elementary School for 23 years. She was very busy with rearing her children.
