Wanda L. Barkman, age 90, of Greenville, passed away Tuesday, November 4 at Helia Healthcare. Private services will be held for 90 year old Wanda L. Barkman. Burial will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Helia Healthcare Activities Department. The Young Funeral Home in Greenville is in charge of arrangements.
Wanda was born on September 27, 1924 in Shabbona, IL to Elmer and Rosella (Holland) Fleming. She married Lester Barkman, Jr. on September 14, 1946 in Shabbona, IL. He died October 2, 1999. She is survived by her daughter Sandra K. Holzhauer of Greenville, her sister Joyce Jacobson of Leland, IL, one granddaughter and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son Gary Barkman, and a sister Doris Bly.
She grew up in Shabbona, IL and lived in several town after her marriage. She and her husband moved to Greenville in 1960. She had worked for Attorney Tom Meyer and also for the Bond County ASCS Office. She was a member of the Greenville First United Methodist Church.
