Earl D. Boeker, age 77, of Ferrin, passed away Saturday, December 27 at Kindred Hospital in St. Louis. Funeral services for 77 year old Earl D. Boeker will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 30 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ferrin. Burial with military honors will be in Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Zieren Day Funeral Home and from 10:00 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the church. Memorials are suggested to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, St. Mary’s Hospital Cardiac Rehab Department, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Mr. Boeker was born on June 12, 1937, in Centralia, Illinois, a son of Henry and Martha (Schreiber) Boeker. He married Mary Quandt on January 2, 1966, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Iuka, Illinois, and she survives in Ferrin.
Earl is also survived by 2 sons – John Boeker and wife Beth of Iuka, and Tim Boeker of Ferrin; 2 daughters – Angela Twenhafel and husband Mike of New Baden, and Sara Hanks and husband Adam of Centralia; 4 grandchildren – Julie and Jack Boeker, and Blake and Brady Twenhafel; a brother – Donald Boeker and wife Nancy of Carlyle; 4 sisters – Janice Niermann of Hoyleton, Edna Jankowski and husband Walter of Nashville, Opal Jones and husband Mike of Aviston, and Nancy Netemeyer and husband Maurice of Aviston; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson – David Luke Hanks; a sister – Nancy Kay Boeker; and a brother-in-law – Bob Niermann.
Mr. Boeker served in the United States Army from 1960-1962. He was a farmer and also drove a truck for various trucking companies throughout his life. Earl was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ferrin, and the Clinton County Farm Bureau. He loved spending time with his family on the farm and his dog, Sammy. He also enjoyed helping his grandchildren with their many 4-H projects.
