Betty J. Jacober, age 88, of Highland, passed away Thursday, January 29 at Faith Care Center in Highland. Funeral services for 88 year old Betty J. Jacober will be Monday, February 2 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Paul Catholic Church in Highland. Burial will be in St. Jacob Cemetery, also in Highland. Friends may call Monday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland. Memorials are suggested to the Kaskaskia Workshop or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
She was born December 22, 1926, in East Saint Louis, IL, the daughter of Patrick M. and Pauline Conroy (nee Bioessau) Hicks.
On April 19, 1952, she married Anthony J. “Tony” Jacober who passed away on September 05, 1998.
She was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church. She was also a member of St. Anne Altar Society; Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 5694 in Highland; and the Weinheimer Senior Citizen’s Club.
Mrs. Jacober was born and grew up in East St. Louis, IL. She had worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in East St. Louis for 10 years. Following her marriage, she and her husband lived in the East St. Louis/Caseyville area from 1952 until moving to Highland in 1972. In their retirement, they enjoyed traveling to Europe, Hawaii, Alaska, and all over the United States. Mrs. Jacober helped at the VFW fish-fries and donated time with the Clinton County Association for the developmentally disabled.
