George Grindstaff, Sr., age 82, of New Douglas, passed away Tuesday, January 20, at his home. Funeral services for 82 year-old George Grindstaff, Sr., will be Friday, January 23, at 11:00 a.m., at the Lesicko Funeral Home in Livingston. Burial will be in New Douglas Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was born on Tuesday, October 8, 1932 in Patton, MO. He was the Son of John Henry and Lucy (Yarbrough) Grindstaff. He was married to Bertha M. Deumund on October 25, 1957 in Perryville, MO.
George served our country in the United States Army as a Corporal during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955.
He was an Auto Worker and a member of the United Auto Workers. He worked at the General Motors Assembly Plant in Wentzville, MO. George was an Auto Worker for 28 years and retired in 1992
He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Douglas, IL; Tobias Bilyeu American Legion Post 710, New Douglas, IL; and the New Douglas Senior Citizens
He is survived by his Wife: Bertha M. Grindstaff of New Douglas, IL; Son: George H. Grindstaff Jr., his wife Glenda J. of New Douglas, IL; Granddaughter: Kari Bergmann, her husband Jason, Fredricksburg, VA; Great Grandson: Joseph Bergmann; Sister-in-law: Paula Grindstaff; Brother-in-law: Earl Phillips;
George was preceded in death by his Parents: John Henry and Lucy (Yarbrough) Grindstaff; Daughter: Georgia Marie Grindstaff; Brothers: David Grindstaff and John Grindstaff; and a Sister: Mary Ellen Phillips.
