Jerry W. Bandy, age 69, of Highland, passed away Monday, January 19 at Faith Care Center in Highland. Funeral services for 69 year old Jerry W. Bandy will be Friday, January 23 at 11:00 a.m. at Meridith Funeral Home in Highland. Burial will be held at a later date. Friends may call Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Hospice of Southern Illinois or American Parkinson’s Disease Association.
Jerry was born January 21, 1945 to Gerald L. and Vada H. (nee Baugher) Bandy at St. Anthony’s Hospital, St. Louis, MO. On September 9, 1967, he married Brenda Coss at the First Baptist Church, Litchfield, IL.
He loved photography and astronomy. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he loved to take fishing and rock hunting. He enjoyed riding his bike and taking walks. He looked forward to vacations with his family. He loved to sketch and paint and, on occasion, could be a jokester.
He worked for Boeing for more than 25 years, retiring as a design engineer. He loved his job and the people he worked with.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Bandy, Highland, IL; 1 daughter, Michelle (Tim) Rusteberg, Highland, IL; 2 granddaughters, Marisa and Emma Rusteberg; 2 sisters, Edna M. (Ronald) Sample, Sorento, IL, and Joyce E. (Larry) Baker, Elizabethtown, IL; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald Lee and Vada H. Bandy.
