Melvin Rector, age 69 of Beckemeyer, passed away Monday, January 5 at his home. Friends of 69 year old Melvin Rector may call Saturday, January 10 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Zieren Day Funeral Home in Carlyle. A reception will follow at the V.F.W. Hall in Carlyle.
Mr. Rector was born on July 1, 1946, a son of Arthur V., Sr. and Dorothy (Bauer) Rector. He married Patricia Rector on August 25, 1991, in Carlyle and she preceded him in death on July 31, 1999.
Survivors include a son – James Rector and fiancé Lilly Yeggy; a daughter – Spring Krumrey; 3 grandchildren – Jonathan, Jessie and Johnny Krumrey; his sisters – Madge Howard, Marilyn Lange, Rosalind Nilges, Sandra Rehmert, and Pearl Imboden; his brothers – Gary Rector, Glenn Rector, and Arthur Vernon Rector, Jr. a sister-in-law – Diane Rector; and his girlfriend – Sharel Scanlan. In addition to his wife Patricia, he was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter – Mary Kay Rector; and a brother – Robert Rector.
Melvin worked at Foster Salvage in Beckemeyer for 31 years. He loved model airplanes, and singing karaoke with his friends at the V.F.W. Club in Carlyle.
