Vera Prante, age 90, of New Douglas, passed away Wednesday, December 31, in the Auburn Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services for 90 year-old Vera Prante will be Tuesday, January 6, at 11:00 a.m., in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Douglas. Burial will be in New Douglas Cemetery. Friend may call Tuesday, from 9:00 – 10:45 a.m., at the church. The Lesicko Funeral Home in New Douglas is in charge of arrangements.
She was born on Thursday, April 3, 1924 in Shoal Creek Township, Bond County, IL. She was the Daughter of William H. and Paula (Schmidt) Bentlage. She was married to Alvin H. Prante on November 10, 1946 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Douglas, IL. Alvin preceded her in death on Tuesday, April 25, 2000.
She was a Homemaker and a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Douglas, IL where she was also involved with the Ladies Aid Society and the Quilting Circle. She was also a member of the New Douglas Senior Citizens.
Vera loved gardening , cooking, and watching her four Great Nieces.
She is survived by her Brother: William L. Bentlage, Vero Beach, FL; Brother-in-law: Elmer “Shorty” Prante, New Douglas, IL; Nieces: Ruth Price, Bonnie Renner, Joanie Mertz, Beth Davis, and Laura Rull; Nephews: Richard Prante, William Prante Jr, Gerald Prante, David Bentlage, Mark Bentlage; Donald Hemann, Alvin Hemann, Vernon Hemann, and Dale Hemann; Many Great and Great-Great Nieces and Nephews.
She was preceded in death by her Parents: William H. and Paula (Schmidt) Bentlage; Her Husband: Alvin H. Prante; 2 Sisters: Esther I. Hemann and Mildred Prante;
