Mrs. Jean Neathery Harris, widow of Max C. Harris, age 71, of Mulberry Grove, formerly of Greenville, passed away at 10:52 a.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at St. Mary’s Health Center in Richmond Heights, MO.
Memorial graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at the Montrose Cemetery in Greenville with Darryl Bolen officiating. The family welcome friends joining them at service time. For those who desire memorials in Jean’s memory may be made to the Lemuel Rhodes Cancer Foundation at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home.
Helen Jean Neathery, the daughter of John Nuell Neathery and Helen Frances Steiner Neathery, was born on may 14, 1943 in Smithboro. Jean attended the Smithboro Schools and grew up in that neighborhood. In her youth she worked at Harry’s Drive in and later at Utlaut Memorial Hospital.
Jean and Max Curry Harris were united in marriage on May 17, 1962 at the Greenville Free Methodist Church and they enjoyed just 41 years together before his death on September 4, 2003.
Jean is survived by their six children: Tammy R. (Fred) Turner, Cindy J. (Eric) Fagan of Salem, Debra S. (Jeff) Huffstutller of DuQuoin, IL, Keith N. (Kristie) Harris of O’Fallon, MO, Candy J. (Chris) Sauter of Salem, IL, Shaun Harris of Vandalia, 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Jean is also survived by her sister Marjorie Swain of Homasassa, FL, and brother Roger (Wanda) Neathery of Lexington, Ky.
Jean is preceded in death by her father John Neathery, mother Helen Brown, husband Max, and brother Kenneth Neathery.
Jean attended the Greenville Free Methodist Church when able.
