Richard W. Boeker

Richard W. Boeker, age 80, of Hamel, passed away Sunday, February 8, at his home. Funeral services for 80 year-old Richard W. Boeker will be Thursday, February 12, at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hamel. Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery also in Hamel. Friends may call Wednesday, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Dauderman Mortuary in Hamel is in charge of arrangements.

He was born on Thursday, October 24, 1934, in Hamel, IL, the son of Erwin and Martha (nee Schroeder) Boeker.

On Saturday, September 06, 1958, he married Margie A. Boeker nee Abert who survives.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hamel, IL; Southern Illinois Builders Association, Board of Directors (3 years); Village of Hamel, Trustee (1977-1987); Village of Hamel, Mayor (1987-1995); Bond Madison Water Company (Board Member); former member of the Hamel Volunteer Fire Department..

Mr. Boeker was born in Hamel, IL. He graduated from Edwardsville High School in 1952 and began his career in construction as a residential carpenter apprentice at Wm. Ohm & Son in Hamel, IL. From 1954-1956, he joined the U.S. Army, active duty in Germany. In the mid-1950’s he worked as a carpenter for H.F. Martin Construction in Hamel, IL and then for Hellrung Construction in Alton, IL, promoted to a foreman on commercial construction projects, until 1966. In 1966, he started R.W. Boeker Company Inc. in Hamel as a residential general contractor and then into commercial construction in 1972.
