Carl L. Tucker, Jr. age 84, of Huey, passed away at Sunday, March 22 at Carlyle Healthcare Center. Graveside services for 84 year old Carl L. Tucker will be held Wednesday, March 25 at 10:00 a.m. at Carlyle Township Cemetery. Friends and family are asked to gather at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Carlyle First Baptist Church. The Zieren Funeral Home in Carlyle is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Tucker was born on August 28, 1930, in Terra Haute, Indiana, a son of Rutha (Royer) and Carl L. Tucker, Sr. He married Betty Lou Foster on October 1, 1950, and she preceded him in death on June 17, 2014.
Mr. Tucker is survived by his children – Shari Hustedde and husband Jim in Kell, Carl Tucker and wife Kathy in Carlyle, Dan Tucker and wife Lisa in Tulsa, OK, Dennis Tucker and partner Wendie Wooters of Junction City, Wilson Tucker and wife Leslie in Gallatin, TN, Patty Cahoj and husband Ed in Halfway, MO, Jonathan (Jay) Tucker and wife Ann in Huey, Matt Tucker and wife Sharon in Huey, Myrna Piehl and husband Robert in Baroda, MI, Steve Tucker and wife Michelle in Huey, and Julie Phillips and husband Rob in Salem; sisters, Peggy Wheelan and Ruth Lampe, both of Breese; 28 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 3 sisters-in-law – Peggy Wheelan, Ruth Lampe, and Norma Tucker.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife; great-grandsons, Nolan and Grant Tucker; a brother – Marland Tucker; a sister – Marilyn “Susie” Tucker; sisters in law — Mildred Book and Rose Foster.
Mr. Tucker was a Christian and a member of the Carlyle First Baptist Church. He was not afraid to share his faith with his family and friends. Carl was valedictorian of his graduating class at Carlyle High School, and then worked at the Beckemeyer Smelter. Mr. Tucker then built cabinets and later homes as a self employed builder. He loved his family, hunting and fishing, music, art, and traveling. He also enjoyed building and flying model airplanes.
