Dorothy F. Schrage, age 85, of Aviston, passed away Monday, March 23 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial for 85 year old Dorothy F. Schrage will be Thursday, March 26 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church in Aviston. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday, March 25 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. at the Hempen-Nordike Funeral Home in Aviston. There will be a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday and the Aviston Legion Auxiliary will have a walk through at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Francis Parish or the Aviston American Legion Post 1239 Auxiliary.
She was born February 27, 1930 in Aviston, daughter of Herman and Anna (Timmermann) Feldmann. She married Charles T. Schrage November 15, 1955 in Aviston and he preceded her in death August 29, 2002.
She is survived by her children, Steve (Theresa) Schrage, Tom (Deb) Schrage, Terry (Patti) Schrage, and Chuck (fiancée Mary Mazeka) Schrage all of Aviston, and Susie (partner Julie Martin) Schrage of Worden; six grandchildren, Travis (Jaime) Schrage, Clint (Jenna) Schrage, Tyler (Jessica) Schrage, Cole (special friend, Cortney Crocker) Schrage, Brittany (Adam) Davenroy, and Samantha (Kyle) Heimann; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Henry (Mary Lou) Feldmann of Aviston; a sister, Antoinette Feldmann of Aviston; and a sister-in-law, Rita Billhartz of Belleville.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille A. Feldmann and Mary Feldmann; a sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Alice and Ferd Zurliene, and Jim Billhartz.
Mrs. Schrage worked at the Machine Headquarters at Scott AFB for 19 years and she also worked at the State Bank in Aviston. She was a member of St. Francis Parish and Ladies Sodality, the American Legion Post 1239 Auxiliary in Aviston, and the St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary in Breese. Her favorite job was being a homemaker and mother for 58 years.
