Leota Mae Borgelt, age 85 of Hoffman, passed away Sunday, March 29 at Carlyle Healthcare Center. Funeral services for 85 year old Leota Mae Borgelt will be held Wednesday, April 1 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoffman. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Hoffman. Friends may call Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Zieren Funeral Home in Carlyle and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to service time at the church. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church.
Leota was born on February 27, 1930, in Iuka, Illinois, a daughter of Clarence and Ruth (Boyles) Henne. She married Robert E. Borgelt on March 28, 1951, in Piggott, Arkansas, and he preceded her in death on January 4, 1982.
Mrs. Borgelt is survived by 3 sons – Pat Borgelt and wife Dianne of Hoffman, Illinois; Mike Borgelt and wife Susan of Hermitage, Tennessee; and Gary Borgelt and wife Robin of Dacula, Georgia; 8 grandchildren – Chris Borgelt and wife Tiffany, Amy Cowles and husband Rob, Brooke Fee and husband Zach, Allyson Lake and husband Mark, Heather Borgelt, Angie Nolte and husband Matt, Sydney Borgelt, and Carley Borgelt; 11 great grandchildren; a sister – Phyllis Linder of Iuka; a half brother – Kenneth Henne of North Carolina; a brother-in-law – Ed Williams of Bethalto; and 2 sisters-in-law – Audrey Borgelt of Wind Lake, Wisconsin, and Jeannie Borgelt of Chillicothe, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence Henne, and Ruth (Boyles) Karm; her step father – John Karm; a sister – Kay Williams; and 4 brothers-in-law – Loren Linder, Theodore Borgelt, Jr., Ralph Borgelt and wife Delores, and Hubert Borgelt.
Leota was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoffman and a former member of the Ladies Aid at the church. She was a home maker, and avid bowler and card player.
