Mattie Lou Wright, age 75, of Greenville, passed away Friday, March 13, at St. Louis University Hospital. Funeral services for 75 year-old Mattie Lou Wright will be Friday, March 20, at 10:45 a.m., in the Bible Way House of Prayer in Royal Lake. Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Friends may call Friday, from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church. The Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mattie Lou Ware, the daughter of Otis Ware and Sally Hewlett Ware, was born on September 20, 1939 in Lafayette Mississippi. She grew up there and attended the public schools. Mattie moved to Madison Illinois in 1964 and to Greenville in 1978. Mattie worked for Sylvia Hat Incorporated in St. Louis for 25 years, then worked at DeMoulin Brothers for many years. She last was a care giver for Doors Home Health.
Mattie and Rev. Harvey Lee Wright were united in marriage on January 31, 1974 and have enjoyed over 40 years together. Rev. Wright survives as does Mattie’s son Clayton H. Harris of Greenville, grandchildren Frederick Wade, Dakari Harris, Cassidy Harris, Lashawn Coleman, and 14 great-grandchildren. Mattie is also survived by her sisters Jessie Harman, Annie(Billy) Bennett, and three brothers Joseph (Flora) Ware, Clayton Ware, and A.C. (Mildred) Ware. And a host of nieces nephews and cousins.
Mattie is preceded in death by her grandson Clayton Harris II, sister Catherine Ware-Gary. and brothers Willie Ware, Fred Ware, and Wesley Ware.
