Raymond B. Kassen, age 62, of Greenville, passed away Tuesday, March 17 at Breese Nursing Home. A memorial service for 62 year old Raymond B. Kassen will be Tuesday, March 24 at 7:00 p.m. at Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville. Friends may call Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to service time at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the St. John’s Mercy Burn Unit.
Raymond Bernard Kassen, the son of Lawrence Jerome Kassen and Marie Catherine Wesselman Kassen, was born on August 19, 1952 in Breese, Illinois. Raymond was raised in Aviston, where he graduated from Central High School in 1970. He worked for a gas station in Breese, then for Arrow Group Industrial in Breese for several years. Raymond then was water superintendent in Keyesport, then a mechanic at Wade Ford in Greenville, and last was mechanic and Tow Driver for Mick’s Auto body until forced to take disability after the fire.
Raymond and Rita L. Little were united in marriage on March 22, 1975 at the Marydale Catholic Church and enjoyed 24 years together. Raymond was later married to Brenda McCray in 1999 and later divorced.
Raymond is survived by his daughter Natalie L. (Marc) Stevenson of St. Louis, MO, one granddaughter Isabelle Stevenson age 3, his mother Marie Kassen of Breese and his sister Linda (Jack) Stallard of Old Ripley, IL.
Raymond was a volunteer fireman for Keyesport and Greenville and a member of the Marydale Catholic Church.
