Robert “Bob” Nowak, age 60 of Hoffman, passed away Thursday, March 12. A Mass of Christian Burial for 60 year old Robert “Bob” Nowak will be Friday, March 20 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Carlyle. Friends may call Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Zieren Funeral Home in Carlyle and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to service time at the church. Memorials are suggested to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Carlyle or to Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoffman.
Mr. Nowak was born on November 24, 1954, in Radom, Illinois, a son of Harry S. and Caroline (Bauer) Nowak. He married Debra Lynn Bright in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina on May 18, 1994, and she survives in Hoffman.
Bob is also survived by his step-children – Jennifer Isaak and husband Chad and Timothy Meyer and wife Jodi, all of Carlyle; his grandchildren – Paige Isaak and fiancé Joel Loepker, Molly Isaak, Emma Meyer, and Ava Meyer; a great grandchild – Bristol Isaak; his brothers and sisters – Jerome Nowak and wife Joan of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Helen Polczyski and husband Don of DuQuoin, Illinois, Carol Kryger and husband Herman of Radom, and Eleanor Miller and husband Dr. Stephen Miller, II of Chester; a sister-in-law – Agnes Koehler of Carlyle; a brother-in-law – Rick Bright and wife Penny of Delavan, Illinois, and his godchild – Dr. Stephen Miller, III.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-and father-in-law – Lester and Vivian Bright; and a sister-in-law – Judy Etter.
Bob was a machinist for many years, and later became a loan officer at Farmer’s State Bank in Hoffman. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Carlyle and a board member of the Village of Hoffman. Mr. Nowak was also a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society and the Illinois Patriot Guard Riders. Bob loved to golf, ride his Harley Davidson motorcycle, and woodworking.
