Vicki L. Bassett, age 59, of Greenville, passed away Saturday, March 14, in her home. Funeral services for 59 year-old Vicki L. Bassett will be Friday, March 27, at 1:00 p.m., in the Smith Grove Southern Baptist Church in rural Greenville. Friends are invited to join the family at the church. Vicki requested there be no flowers at the service but balloons are welcome for the balloon release. Memorials are suggested to the Smith Grove Southern Baptist Church. The Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Vicki Lynn Chism, the daughter of Merle Wilson Chism and Rachle Vermont Haley Chism, was born on August 1, 1955 in Detroit, Michigan. She grew up there and attended the public schools there. Vicki attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri and it was there that she met Bennett. Vicki and Bennett A. Bassett were united in marriage on August 5, 1977 at the Baptist Church in Washington, Michigan and have enjoyed over 37 years together. Bennett survives as do their two sons: Ivan Wilson Bassett of Owensboro, KY, and Bryen Allen (Andrea) Bassett of Reno, Illinois. Vicki is also survived by her sister Wanda Jo Chism of Miami, FL, brother-in-law Bobby Bookout, and two nieces Nancy Jo Bookout of San Diego, and Jill Milot of Boston.
Vicki worked at Mercantile Bank in St. Louis, and was secretary for James Jackson President of First National Bank in Greenville.
Vicki raised her boys, was a volunteer in Bond County, and an active member of her Church, the Smith Grove Southern Baptist Church of Greenville.
