Stephen Joseph “Steve” Knuf

Stephen Joseph “Steve” Knuf, age 61, of Carlyle, passed away Monday, April 6 in Jefferson County, IL. A funeral service for 61 year old Stephen Joseph “Steve” Knuf will be held Friday, April 10 at 11:00 a.m. at Zieren Funeral Home in Carlyle. Friends may call Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. In lieu of other gifts, memorials are suggested to the family.

Steve was born on April 29, 1953, in Breese, Illinois, a son of Anthony W. and Ella Mae (See) Knuf. He married Roxann Hugo on September 1, 1978, in Hoffman and she survives in Carlyle.

In addition to his wife Roxann, Mr. Knuf is also survived by his children – Rona Fischer of Centralia, Illinois; Reese Schneider and wife Amy of Springfield, Illinois; Summar Dunnill and husband Bryan of Glen Carbon, Illinois; and Stuart Knuf and wife Laura of Breese, Illinois; 8 grandchildren – Zach Fischer; Van and Hudson Schneider; Dax, Miller, and Hayes Dunnill; and Parker and Hayden Knuf; a sister – Pam Wedekemper and husband Gary of Carlyle; 3 brothers – Charles Knuf and wife Kathie of Hoffman, Illinois; Bill Knuf and wife Sharon of Highland; and Thomas Knuf and wife Lisa of Flower Mound, Texas; and his mother- and father-in-law – Alfred and Garnell Hugo of Hoffman.

He was preceded in death by his parents – Anthony and Ella Mae Knuf; and a son-in-law – Ken Fischer.

Mr. Knuf sold feed and later worked as warehouse manager for MoorMan’s for over 32 years. After retiring from MoorMan’s, he drove for Wedekemper’s, Inc. Steve was a volunteer fireman for Beckemeyer Fire Department for many years, a member of St. Mary’s Church, and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Carlyle Council 1382. Steve loved hunting and the outdoors, especially playing with his grandkids, mowing grass, gardening, and riding his motorcycle.
