Wendy J. Hartlieb

Wendy J. Hartlieb, age 49, of Highland, passed away Thursday, April 23 at her home. Funeral services for 49 year old Wendy J. Hartlieb will be Tuesday, April 28 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Paul Catholic Church in Highland. Burial will be in Highland City Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. at the Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland. Memorials are suggested to Heart of Highland.

She was born on Tuesday, January 18, 1966, in Heidelberg, Germany, the daughter of William M. and Betty M. (nee Allen) Craven.

On Saturday, June 22, 1991, she married Chris T. Hartlieb who survives.

She was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL; Illinois Assoc of Agriculture Fairs-Pageant Director for Madison Co. Fair (20 years) and Pike Co. Fair (5 years); Highland Ladies Basketball Association (former President).

Wendy attended Griggsville, IL, High School and was the Valedictorian for her graduating class in 1984. In High School she was a pitcher of the Softball Team and Member of the National Honor Society. She was crowned Miss Pike County Fair Queen in 1983 and Miss Illinois County Fair Queen in 1984. She attended and graduated SIU-C in 1988 with a Business Degree. She then attended Sangamon State University graduating in 1990 with a MBA in Marketing. She had been employed with Waylon Company in Advertising, The Vandalia Leader Union Newspaper, Naco Printing in Greenville, Kloss Furniture and Thomasville Home Furnishings in Highland, and the last 5 years worked at Eaton’s B-Line Business in Highland. She was also the founder of WJH Creations (bling apparel). She was “all about her family” especially her children. She coached her daughter in softball and attended both children’s ball games. She loved her Schnauzers: Kirsten, Bear, and Baily. She was very active with Relay For Life in Highland and an avid reader. She was diagnosed with lung cancer in December of 2014.
