Francis B. Kruep

Francis B. Kruep, age 87, of Carlyle, passed away at Carlyle Healthcare Center on Sunday, May 3. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial for 87 year old Francis B. Kruep will be Wednesday, May 6 at 10:00 a.m. St. Mary’s Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. at Zieren Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Mr. Kruep was born on October 27, 1927, in Aviston, Illinois, a son of Theodore and Josephine (Hellmann) Kruep. He married Alyce C. Haukap on February 15, 1949, in Germantown, Illinois, and she preceded him in death on May 13, 2006.

Francis is survived by 3 sons – Bob Kruep of Carlyle, John Kruep and wife Jackie of Carlyle, and Randy Kruep and wife Pat of Bartelso; 2 daughters – Patti Stark and husband Mike of Freeburg, and Kathi Kruep and friend Ron Walton of Covington; 7 grandchildren – Tricia Humphries and husband Mike, SMSgt. Scott Kruep and wife Angela, Jason Kruep, Kendra Quartz and husband Dan, Morgan Kuhl and husband Adam, Corey Kruep and Brett Kruep and friend Mikaela; his great grandchildren – Madison, Evan and Drew Humphries, Zoey Kuhl, and Lukas and Eli Quartz; and a sister – Joetta Korte of Highland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and 8 brothers and sisters.

Mr. Kruep worked as an engineering technician and inspector for Clark Dietz Engineers. He also owned Kruep’s Tavern in New Baden, and was a member and past president of the Clinton County Tavern Association. Francis was a member of St. Mary’s Church and the Knights of Columbus, Council 1382 in Carlyle. He enjoyed playing pool and following the Clinton County Baseball League.
