Maxine File


Maxine File, age 73, of south of Old Ripley, passed away Sunday, May 17 at Missouri Baptist Hospital. Funeral services for 73 year old Maxine File will be held Thursday, May 21 at 11:00 a.m. at Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home. Burial will be in File Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Old Ripley Church of Christ.

Maxine Anna Bilyeu, the daughter of John Bilyeu and Eva Caulk Bilyeu, was born on January 8, 1942 in Highland, Illinois. She was raised in Old Ripley and attended the Old Ripley School, the Mt. Vernon One Room School, Pocahontas Elementary and graduated from Greenville High School in 1960. Maxine worked at Utlaut Memorial Hospital as receptionist for a time. Glen and Maxine were married on December 29, 1961 at the Old Ripley Church of Christ by Rev. Dan Wand and enjoyed over 53 years together. She worked at the Pocahontas Elementary School where she worked in food service and drove school buses. Maxine retired in 2009, after 32 years with the school.

She is survived by her husband Glen, two sons: Tommy (Joyce) File of rural Pocahontas and Ricky (Melissa) File of west of Greenville. Also surviving are her grandchildren Nathan File and Kelly File. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, sister Darlene File who passed away at birth and a grandson Bradley File.

Maxine was a member of the Bond County Home Extension, Quilting Club, American Farm Heritage Museum, Gateway Dulcimer Society,the Raccoon Ramblers Camping Club, and her Church, the Old Ripley Church of Christ.
