Nancy E. Reiss, age 70 of Carlyle, passed away Tuesday, May 12 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Funeral services for 70 year old Nancy E. Reiss will be held Friday, May 15 at 10:00 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church in Carlyle. Burial will be in Carlyle Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Zieren Funeral Home in Carlyle and Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. to service time at Messiah Lutheran Church. Memorials are suggested to Messiah Lutheran Church, Farina Friedens United Church of Christ, or to the American Cancer Society.
Mrs. Reiss was born on August 14, 1944, in Marion County, Illinois, a daughter of Oliver Wesley and Vera Mae (Schooley) Mulvany. She married Roger A. Reiss on March 10, 1973, at Farina Friedens United Church of Christ in Farina, Illinois, and he survives in Carlyle.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Reiss is also survived by a daughter – Stacy Reed and husband David of Murphysboro, Illinois; her grandchildren – Lisa Fletcher and husband Jayson, Clay Reed, and Kimberly Reed; her great grandchildren – Chelsea Fletcher, Rebecca Fletcher, Alexis Fletcher, and Jaxson Reed; a sister – Grace Eileen Norman of Farina; 2 brothers – Lowell “Sonny” Mulvany and wife Pat and Larry Mulvany and wife Jackie, all of Mt. Zion, Illinois; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister – Ethel Marie (Mulvany) Hites; and 2 brothers-in-law – Russel Hites and Charles “Charlie” Norman.
Nancy worked as a welder at Little Fuse in Centralia for 37 ½ years. She was a member of Farina Friedens United Church of Christ and also attended Messiah Lutheran Church in Carlyle. Mrs. Reiss was an excellent cook, and enjoyed photography, bird watching, and her family.
