Ferne L. Snow

Ferne L. Snow, age 81, of Greenville, passed away Friday, June 26 at Greenville Regional Hospital. Funeral services for 81 year old Ferne L. Snow will be held Wednesday, July 1 at 10:00 a.m. at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church.

Ferne Lucille Snow, the daughter of George and Ida (Baudendistel ) Goodman, was born December 28, 1933 in Mulberry Grove, Illinois. Ferne grew up in Mulberry Grove, attended the local schools and graduated from Mulberry Grove High School with the class of 1951.

Ferne and Stanley A. Snow were united in marriage on August 7, 1952 in Mulberry Grove. They enjoyed 49 years of marriage before his passing on April 24, 2002. Ferne and Stanley lived in Texas from 1952-1956 while Stanley served our country in the United States Air Force.

Ferne and Stanley moved back home, where she worked in Springfield, Illinois for the government in computers and was a secretary. She then worked at Scott Air Force Base in data entry until 1961 when she was able to stay home and raise her family.

She is survived by two children; Scott Snow and wife Tola of Greenville and Cheryl Snow of Pleasant Mound. Ferne was the loving grandmother of Tesia Snow, twins Skylor and Taylor Snow, Trista (Mike) Schuster, Eric Bicknell and Zander Snow; great-grandmother of Kenedy, Reagen, Madison, Autumn, Clayton, Chloe, Bryce and Adilynn. Also surviving is a half-brother Leroy Owen of Nokomis, Illinois.

Ferne was preceded in death by her parents, husband Stanley, grandson Christopher Bicknell at birth and brothers Ronald Goodman, Charles “Pug” Goodman, half-brother Wilber Owens and half-brother George Owens.

Ferne was a faithful member of the Greenville First Christian Church and enjoyed going to bible studies.
