Robert “Rob” Mangelsdorf, age 61, of south of Greenville, passed away Sunday, June 7, at his home. Funeral services for 61 year-old Robert “Rob” Mangelsdorf will be Wednesday, June 10 at 11:00 a.m. at Central Christian Church in Greenville. Friends may call Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Bond County Hospice or Pocahontas Elementary School.
Robert Charles II, son of Robert Charles and Bernice (House) Mangelsdorf, was born February 4, 1954 in St. Louis, Missouri. Rob was raised in DesPeres, Missouri until the age of 8. His father was a chemist for Pet Milk and came to the Greenville factory, moving his family to Greenville. Rob attended Greenville schools and graduated from Greenville High School with the class of 1973. He went to Baylee and Rankin Tech College where he got his degree in auto mechanics.
Robert worked for Wade Ford in Greenville and then for Vandalia Ford. He then started his own business, Rob’s Auto Care in Greenville. Rob then worked for FS in Edwardsville, Ditch Witch in Maryville and until March of this year worked for TRO rebuilding transformers.
Robert was united in marriage to Julie (Bass) on October 11, 1990. She survives as do their 2 daughters: Rachel (Aron) McFadden of Coffeen, Illinois and Katie (Stephen) Swarm of Urbana, Illinois. He is also survived by his sister Nancy Cody of Williamsport, Maryland and 4 nieces, 2 nephews and 7 great-nieces and nephews.
He and Julie were members of the Central Christian Church in Greenville.
