Edward Forbes, Jr


Edward Forbes, Jr., age 66 of Greenville, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2015 in St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, Illinois.

Funeral mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 9, 2015 at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Greenville. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be held 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville. Memorials may be made to AMVETS or the St. Lawrence Catholic Church.

Edward Forbes, Jr., the son of Edward Brink Forbes and Lois Annette (Post) Forbes, was born July 19, 1948 in Vandalia, Illinois. Edward grew up in the Ramsey and Pana area where he attended the local schools.

Mr. Forbes served our country in the United States Army, enlisting on March 27, 1968. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device. Edward completed his GED while in the service and was Honorably discharged onMarch 26, 1970.

He worked for John Anthony at Anthony Supply, Hampton Plumbing, B-Line in Highland, Illinois and for the past 32 years at Greenville Regional Hospital in maintenance, retiring in 2010.

Edward and Lois Koonce were united in marriage on April 25, 1970 at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Greenville. She survives as do their 2 daughters: Angela Enright and husband Michael of Raeford, North Carolina and Jill Forbes of Deltona, Florida and her fiance Jason Haase. He was the loving grandfather of Darion, Michael Jr., Aidan, Sadie, Savannah and Tristen. Also surviving is a brother Ronald D. Busch Sr. of Greenville and his wife Barbara.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents and siblings George William Busch, Barbara A. Kleinik and Mary Lou Best.

Mr. Forbes was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Greenville AMVETS Post 140, Greenville VFW Post 1377 and American Legion Post 282 of Greenville.
