John D. Cremin, Sr.

John D. Cremin, Sr., age 77, of Alhambra, passed away Monday, July 27 at his home. Funeral services for 77 year old John D. Cremin will be Saturday, August 1 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Gertrude Catholic Church in Grantfork. Burial will be in Harris Cemetery in Alhambra. Friends may call Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 to 10:30 a.m. at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association or the Alzheimer’s Association.

He was born on Monday, February 28, 1938, in Brighton, MA, the son of Jeremiah and Nora (nee Cavanaugh) Cremin.

On Saturday, August 29, 1964, he married Lois M. Cremin (nee Nungesser) who survives.

He was a member of Saint Gertrude Catholic Church. He was also a member of Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers (IEEE); Toastmasters International.

Born and grew up in Brighton, Massachusetts. He graduated from Boston College in 1959 with a degree in Physics; later graduated from Northeast University, Boston, MA, in 1961 with a degree in electrical communications. He was in the Army ROTC at Boston College. Later he served with the US Army as a Captain during the Berlin and the Cuban Crisis. He worked for AT&T/Bell Labs (obtained a patent while working there); Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, AL. and the MIT Lincoln Laboratory, Lexington, MA. He taught at Wentworth Institute, Boston MA, and researched air traffic control radar & solar electricity. He worked at McDonnell-Douglas, St. Louis, MO, in 1984 till 1990. He moved to Alhambra in 1984. He had taught Avionics at St. Louis University for 14 years.
He designed alternative energy for Natural Bridges National Monument in Utah and designed a solar energy system for Alhambra School. He built an electric car and was the first to install residential solar energy with net metering in the area.
He enjoyed biking (Road Racing) and running. He and his wife enjoyed ballroom dancing. He coached his sons in their athletic events.
