Mildred E. Atchison

Mildred E. Atchison, age 89, of Greenville, passed away Monday, June 29, in the Hillsboro Health Care Center. Funeral services for 89 year-old Mildred E. Atchison will be Friday, July 3, at 11:00 a.m., in the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Greenville. Burial will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., in the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville. Memorials are suggested to the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church Building Fund.

Mildred Esther, the daughter of Philip and Emma (Noll) Flamm, was born September 6, 1925 in St. Louis, Missouri. Mildred grew up in south St. Louis until the age of 13. The family moved back to the Millersburg area and various places in Bond County. Mildred graduated from Greenville High School and went to business college in St. Louis, Missouri. Mildred worked at Greenville Service Company, Gaffner Motors, Greenville Service, Deputy of Assessments in Bond County, and worked at the court house until she retired in the early 1990’s.

Mildred was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Greenville. She was an active member in her church and loved her church family. Mildred also was on the Central Township Board for some years.

Surviving are sons Robert Atchison III and wife Phyllis of Pocahontas, Mark Atchison and wife Julie of Pocahontas, Chris Atchison and wife Kathy of Mulberry Grove, Thomas Atchison and wife Amanda of Greenville, daughter Gloria Thomas and husband Ron of Greenville, 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are siblings Melvin Flamm of Smithboro, IL and Jean Fox of Effingham, IL.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, brother Howard Flamm, granddaughter Lindsey Atchison and one great-great-grandchild.
