Nelda Fern LeBegue, age 89, of Mt. Zion and Maroa, passed away Sunday, July 12, in Heritage Health and Senior Care in Mt. Zion. Funeral services for 89 year-old Nelda Fern LeBegue will be Wednesday, July 15 at 11:00 a.m. at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Bond County Food Pantry, the Bond County Senior Center, or the First Christian Church.
Nelda Fern, the daughter of Wesley Reuben and Ruth Esther (King) Harnetiaux was born December 4, 1925 in Dudleyville, Illinois, Mills Township. She grew up in Dudleyville, and attended the Drake School.
Nelda and Wayne Milton LeBegue were united in marriage on May 10, 1944 in Greenville. He preceded her in death on January 3, 1982. Nelda and Wayne lived in Watertown, Wisconsin and moved back to the Greenville area where they farmed. She stayed at home, helping on the farm and raising the children. Nelda also helped her husband when he owned and operated Wayne’s Service and Repair. They moved to Decatur in 1973. She worked for Hallmark until her retirement in 1993.
She is survived by their children: Harvey LeBegue and wife Jane of Greenville, Roger LeBegue and wife Dorris of Rushville, IL, Janet Morr and husband Rodney of Mt. Zion, IL and Paul LeBegue and wife Cynthia of Clinton, IL. Nelda is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Leslie, Michael, Heath, Joey, Brandon, Christy, Josh, Angela, Wesley and Katie. She is also the great-grandmother of 16, a great-great-grandmother and sister to Norman Harnetiaux of Greenville.
Nelda is preceded in death by her parents, husband Wayne, son Arlen D. LeBegue, daughter Sandra Sue LeBegue in infancy and a grandson Roger Dean.
