Donald E. Roach

Donald E. Roach, age 48 of south of Mulberry Grove, passed away at 8:55 p.m. Friday, August 21, 2015 at his home.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Maxey Cemetery with Tom Plog officiating. For those who desire memorials in Donald’s memory may be made to his family at the service or at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville. Full military honors will be held by American legion Post #1180 of Mulberry Grove.

Donald Eugene Roach, the son of Donald Marion Roach and Betty Joyce Mahaney Roach, was born on July 16, 1967 at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia. Donald grew up on the Roach farm and attended the Mulberry Grove Schools graduating in 1985. Donald answered his country’s call by joining the United States Army on September 3, 1986, serving overseas in Korea as a Satellite Systems Operator, being awarded the Army Service Ribbon/ Overseas Service Ribbon/ M-16 Rifle Expert/ Good Conduct Medal/ Army lapel Button and the Army Achievement Medal. Donald was honorably discharged on August 30, 1989 at the Presidio in San Francisco, California and returned home. Donald worked at Cranes packing in Vandalia, then for the Illinois Department of Transportation before being disabled in 2008. Donald operated the Friday Evening Country Music Jam and Dance in Mulberry Grove for several years.

Donald and Tracy L. Frerker were united in marriage in July 1995 at the Greenville City Park and are the parents of their three children who survive: Mikayla F. Roach of Troy, IL, Dane M. Roach of Troy, Braedon T. Roach of south of Mulberry Grove, and one granddaughter Aubree Gaylord of Troy. Donald is also survived by his father Donald M. (Joyce) Roach, sister Carla (Tom) White, nieces and nephews.

Donald is preceded in death by his mother Betty, and step mother Carole Roach.

Donald is a member of the Buckmasters, Gilham Masonic Lodge # 809 A.F. & A.M. of Mulberry Grove, and the Mulberry Grove First Church of Christ.
