Sigmund B. “Cotton” Zakszewski, age 84 of Alhambra, IL, died Monday, September 28, 2015, at Hitz Memorial Home in Alhambra, IL.
He was born on Monday, March 23, 1931, in Fairmont City, IL, the son of Sigmund and Anastasia A. (nee Smerek) Zakszewski.
On Saturday, June 06, 1987, he married G. Kay Zakszewski nee Schwoebel who survives.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 961, Fairmont City, IL.
Sigmund was born and raised at Fairmont City, IL. He served with the U.S. Air Force, active duty from 1950 to 1954. He later worked for the Rail Road, beginning with Pennsylvania Rail Road now CSX Rail Road. He was a Pit Chief for a racing team that raced Midget Race Cars. He enjoyed crossword puzzles and gardening.
The family of Sigmund are grateful for the care he received at Hitz Memorial Home and from Heartland Hospice since April 1st.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 01, 2015, at Dauderman Mortuary in Alhambra, IL., with Terry Feazel, officiating.
