Helen Ruth Nolte

Helen Ruth Nolte, age 88 of Boulder, passed away at her home on Thursday, October 29, 2015.

Mrs. Nolte was born on December 15, 1926, near Boulder, Illinois, a daughter of Floyd C. and Ada Bell (Hicks) Yardley. She married Henry Nolte in Ferrin, Illinois on August 23, 1943, and he preceded her in death on November 30, 2003.

Mrs. Nolte is survived by 2 daughters – Ruth Holland and husband Richard of Sandoval, and Debra Albers and husband Ronald, Jr. of Huey; 7 sons – James Nolte and wife Carmen of Iuka, Earl Nolte of Odin, Robert Nolte and wife Linda of Iuka, George Nolte and wife Melba of Sandoval, Jerry Nolte and wife Mary Ann, David Nolte and wife Sheri, and Bradley Nolte, all of Boulder; 28 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Helen is also survived by 2 sisters – Anna Belle Dixon and husband Bob of Carlyle, and Ada Mae Yardley of Troy; and a brother – Herbert Yardley and wife Connie of Carlyle.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; a grandson – Timothy Nolte; and his brothers – Dale, Edwin, Charles, John and Herbert Nolte.

Mrs. Nolte attended Kansas School in Boulder, and attended Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ferrin. She was a member of the church choir and the Ladies Aid, and held many offices within the LWML. She was also the school janitor at Ferrin School and was a cook at Boulder Café. Helen was a devoted farm wife and home maker, and she loved cooking, canning, and gardening.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, November 2, 2015, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ferrin, with Rev. Scott Niermann, officiating. Interment will follow at Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery in Ferrin. Visitation will be held at Zieren Funeral Home in Carlyle on Sunday, November 1, 2015, from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. and at Bethlehem Lutheran Church on Monday morning from 9:00 – 11:00 A.M. A luncheon will be served at the Bethlehem Lutheran School immediately following the service. Memorial donations are suggested to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or to the LWML, and they will be received at Zieren Funeral Home.
