V. Jean Rasler, age 86, of Greenville, passed away Wednesday, October 14 at Greenville Regional Hospital. Graveside funeral services for 86 year old V. Jean Rasler will be Tuesday, October 20 at 2:00 p.m. at Montrose Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Bond County Humane Society. The Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Virginia Jean Wilson, the daughter of Charles Woodrow Wilson and Geneva Ethel Henderson Wilson, was born on September 19, 1929 in Vandalia at the mark Greer Hospital. She grew up in Vandalia, attended the public schools and graduated from Vandalia High School with the Class of 1947. Jean worked at the Fayette County Court House for a time then was a telephone operator in Vandalia prior to her marriage. Jean and Richard owned and operated the Rasler Hardware and Gas in Mulberry Grove for many years, then the family moved to Greenville in 1976 where Jean and Richard raised their two sons.
Jean and Richard L. Rasler were united in marriage on November 25, 1949 by Rev. A. D. Hawley at his home and enjoyed over 65 years together. Richard survives as do their two sons: Richard Keith Rasler and Kevin Kent Rasler both of Greenville, two grandchildren: Richard Lee Rasler, Shelly Sue (Jon) Sasse, and three great-grandchildren: Richard Jacob Rasler, Tyler Sasse, and Tristan Sasse.
Jean is the last of her generation being preceded in death by her sister Amber Rowena Gable, and her daughter Marilyn Ann Rasler in 1964.
Jean is a member of the Greenville First Christian Church.
