Paul Vogelbacher

Paul Vogelbacher, age 80, of Highland, passed away Sunday, November 8 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville. Graveside funeral services for 80 year old Paul Vogelbacher will be Wednesday, November 11 at 3:00 p.m. at Highland City Cemetery. No visitation will be held. Memorials are suggested in the form of masses or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland is in charge of arrangements.

He was born February 16, 1935, in Highland, IL, the son of Edwin and Catherine (nee Wilhold) Vogelbacher.

On September 01, 1956, he married Joanne Barbara Schott who passed away on February 07, 2004.

He was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church.

Paul was born in Highland; grew up in Marine, where his father owned a bakery. He was a graduate of Highland High School in 1952. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked 19 years for McDonnell Douglas. Then worked for Shell Oil Refinery in Wood River as a Safety Inspector. He retired at age 59 in 1993. He and his wife moved to Sun City, AZ, in 1993. After her death, he returned to Highland in 2004. He enjoyed swimming, golf and bowling. Traveled extensively in retirement. While working, he enjoyed annual fishing trips to Florida.
