Robert L. Brown, age 81 of north of Greenville, passed away at 5:32 a.m. Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Helia Health Care in Greenville.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 7, 2015 at the Mt. Moriah Cemetery with Pastor Jared File officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday at the Donnell-Wiegand in Greenville. For those who desire memorials in Bob’s memory may be made to the Woburn Baptist CHurch, Helia Activities Department, or Bond County Hospice.
Robert Lee Brown, the son of Ezra Oscar Brown and Flowery Gertrude “Gertie” Kimbro Brown, was born on June 21, 1934 on the Brown farm in LaGrange Township. Bob attended the one room country schools and the Donnellson school. Bob answered his country’s cal by joining the United States Army and was honorably discharged on November 30, 1961.
Bob and Delores A. Harris were united in marriage by Rev. Robert Kinney on September 1, 1956 in Greenville and have enjoyed over 59 years together and she survives as do their three children: Shelly A. Brown of north of Greenville, Michael L. Borwn of Smithboro, and Robert W. Brown of north of Greenville. Also surviving is Bob’s last sister Reta (Joe) Boucher of Litchfield, IL.
Bob was a member of the Employers and operating Engineers Local 520. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for the City of geenville, retiring in 1996. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, and everything out of doors.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Ruth Christin, Ruby Mueller, and four brothers; Raymond Brown, Russell Brown, Roy Brown and Ralph Brown.
In addition to his Union, Bob is a member of the Woburn Baptist Church.
