Dorothy M. Wise, age 93, of Greenville, passed away at 9:35 a.m. Monday, December 14, 2015 at Helia Healthcare in Greenville.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Greenville with Rev. Chrisy Ennen officiating. The family welcome family and friends to join them at the service. For those who desire, memorials in Dorothy’s memory may be made to Helia Healthcare at the service or at Donnell-Wiegand.
Dorothy Mable Enloe, the daughter of Ezekiel Enloe and Tracie Karm Enloe, was born on the Enloe farm near Tamalco on December 31, 1921. Dorothy attended the one room schools in the area and graduated from Greenville High School. Dorothy raised her family then worked as a waitress at the Elm’s Cafe in Greenville, and later was the book keeper for Laverne Mercer Trucking for many years.
Dorothy and Laurel Howard Wise were united in marriage on October 12, 1940 in the Greenville Methodist Church Parsonage and enjoyed over 39 years together before Laurel’s death on April 8, 1980. They are the parents of two children, one of whom survives: Howard S. (Katy) Wise of Greenville, son-in-law Richard Hart of Monmouth, IL, nine grandchildren: Shelli (Greg) Ratermann, of Beckemeyer, Tiffani (Marc) Ackerman of Greenville, Trevor (Jamie) Wise of Greenville, Kimberly (Mark) Gan of Greenville, Marcia (Curtis) Difuntorum of Kirkwood, MO, Emily Despriet of Yorba Linda, CA, Traci Starr of Normal, Adam Hart, Greg Hart, 19 great-grandchildren; Madyson Ratermann, Mackenzie Ratermann, Jacob Ackerman, Jordyn Ackerman, Jaidyn Ackerman, Joshua Ackerman, Jace Ackerman, Dalton Wise, Chase Wise, Jordan Neal, Cameryn Gan, Clayten Gan, Ryan (Laura) McLaughlin, Logan (Samantha) McLaughlin, Kaylee McLaughlin, Cameron Despriet, Tanner Starr, Taylor Starr, Ella Ary, and three great-great-grandchildren: Jackson McLaughlin, Cole McLaughlin, and Laney McLaughlin.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Laurel, their daughter Karen Kay Hart and is the last of her generation being preceded in death by her two brothers: Harry D. Enloe, Louis Enloe, and two sisters: Pearl Walker and Nellie Lurkins.
Dorothy was a member of the Bond County Home Bureau, the Greenville Rebekah’s, and the Greenville First United Methodist Church.
