Kenneth E. Weiss, Sr., age 77, of Greenville passed away Sunday, December 20, 2015 at his home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 11 AM at Young Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hug Cemetery, Millersburg, IL. Friends may call Tuesday, December 22, 2015 from 4-7 PM at Young Funeral Home. For those who desire memorial contributions can be made to Hug Cemetery or Bond County Hospice.
Kenneth was born April 9, 1938 south of Greenville to Melvin and Ola (Worstell) Weiss. He married Mary C. Rohde on December 6, 1958 at The Presbyterian Church in Greenville by Rev. Robert Berger and they have enjoyed 57 years together. He is survived by his wife Mary of Greenville, IL, his children Debra Hamel and her husband Mark of Greenville, IL, Ken Jr. of Highland, IL, Donna of Greenville, IL, and Kurt Weiss of Villa Ridge, MO. His is also survived by his grandchildren, Rachel Horsfall and her husband Joe of Edwardsville, IL, Jared Hamel of Manhatten, KS, Megan Coling and her husband Michael of Greenville, IL Kenny Weiss of Pocahontas, IL, Kurt & Kara Weiss of Villa Ridge, MO, along with his great grandchildren Belle and Ava Horsfall of Edwardsville, IL and Emmy and Keegan Coling of Greenville. He is also survived by his sister Shirley Sessler and her husband Al of Little Rock, AR. He was preceded in death by a daughter Diana and a sister Norma Jean Pourchot.
Kenneth farmed all of his life in Millersburg retiring in 2012. He was a member of The American Farm Heritage Museum, Bond County Farm Bureau, Jamestown Evangelical United Church of Christ, and a former member of the Bond County Shifters Club.
