Kent K. Kesner, age 57, of Greenville, longtime sports director for WGEL Radio, passed away Wednesday, December 2 at Greenville Regional Hospital. Funeral services for 57 year old Kent K. Kesner will be Sunday, December 6 at 1:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home. Burial will be in Robinson Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home. Kent was born October 7, 1958 in Highland, IL to James D. and Lovell M. (Brasel) Kesner. He is survived by his sister Kim (Don) Lugge of Pocahontas, IL., his niece Sabryna (Josh) Fahrney, his nephew Simon (Katy) Lugge, and his special friend Dianne Merritt of Greenville. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Kent grew up and lived his entire life in Greenville. He graduated from Greenville High School and Greenville College. After college he attended The Broadcast Center in St. Louis. He worked at WGRN radio at Greenville College and then WSMI radio and was currently working at WGEL in Greenville where he was sports director and broadcast all the local sports. He also did the Swap Shop and Sports Center programs. He also drove a school bus for Bond County Unit #2 for over 20 years. He was very interested in history of The Civil War and WW II. He was member of the First United Methodist Church.
