Janis B. Germaine


Janis B. Germaine, age 67, of Highland, IL, died Friday, January 15, 2016, at her residence in Highland, IL.

She was born January 16, 1948, in Saint Louis, MO, the daughter of Franklin and Melba (nee Linders) Wehrle.

On March 04, 2000, she married Michael Francis Germaine who survives.

She was a member of First Baptist Church-Maryville, IL. She was also a member of Highland’s Women’s Club (Past President); Beta Sigma Phi.

Janis was born in St. Louis, Missouri. She grew up in Normandy, Missouri and graduated from Normandy High School in 1966. After graduating from nursing school, she worked for Hospice Programs in Florida and Ohio. In May of 1997, she moved to Highland to care for her parents. She worked for Dr. Osborn in Breese, Illinois from the late 1990’s to the early 2000’s. Janis enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was a crafty person, enjoying needle point, hand knitting, and crocheting. Janis loved to travel and had visited all 50 states, Mexico, England, and Belgium. She had a black Cocker Spaniel named Elli and a Yellow Lab named Heidi. She had taught Wednesday night Sunday School at the First Baptist Church in Maryville, Illinois. She had also taught Bible School at Highland Community Church & Fairfield Church of Christ-Fairfield, Ohio. Her favorite color was yellow; her favorite Disney character was Winnie the Pooh. She had visited Disneyworld 8-10 times with various family members.

She was preceded in death by :
Mother – Melba L. Wehrle (Died 7/22/2009), Highland, IL
Father – Franklin F. Wehrle (Died 5/23/1999), Highland, IL

Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.

There will be no visitation.

Going Home Celebration will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 30, 2016, at First Baptist Church in Maryville, IL., with Dr. Tom Hufty officiating.

Private interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in St.Louis (Normandy), MO.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association.
