Ronald D. Mollett age 82 of Old Ripley, passed away at 2:00 p.m. Monday April 18, 2016 at St. Joseph Hospital in Highland surrounded by his wife and children.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 21, 2016 at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville with Darryl Bolen officiating. Interment will follow in Brown Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m.Wednesday at Donnell-Wiegand. For those who desire memorials may be made to the Old Ripley Church of Christ or the Lemuel Rhoades Cancer Foundation.
Ronald Dean Mollett, the son of Ben D. Mollett and Elizabeth Catherine Scheu Mollett, was born on January 11, 1934 on the Mollett Farm west of Greenville. Ron attended the one room schools including Blackjack and Terrapin Ridge School. Ron went into farming and trucking all his life. He owned and operated the Ronald D. Mollett Inc. Trucking until he retired in 2007. Ron enjoyed his grandchildren, collecting farm toys, and playing dominoes.
Ron and Marlene A. Mettler were united in marriage on May 21, 1955 at the Grantfork Evangelical Church by Rev. Arby Hosto. They have enjoyed over 60 years together and Marlene survives as do two of their three children: sons: Jerry (Sue) Mollett of Pocahotas, David (Laura) Mollett of Carlyle, 4 grandchildren: Matthew (Renee) Mollett, Andrea (James) Shea, Marlie Mollett, Gavin Mollett, 2 step grandsons, one great-grandson Lane Mollett, two sisters Ida (Herbert) Landolt of Hartford, Alice Schleper of Hartford, sister-in-law Alice Mollett of Terrapin Ridge, and one brother Carroll “Butch” (Frances) Mollett of Greenville.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents Ben and Catherine Mollett, his daughter Pam (Gary) Lurkins, sisters May Starnes, Opal Matejac, and brothers Lloyd Mollett, Charles Mollett, William Mollett, Eldon Mollett, Orville Mollett, and Kenneth Mollett.
Ron helped with Boy Scouts, helped at the Bond County fair, and is a member of the Old Ripley Church of Christ.
