Marilyn K. Peters

Marilyn K. Peters, age 62 of Carlyle, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville.

Mrs. Peters was born on February 23, 1954, in Belleville, a daughter of A. Fred and Olivia (Henken) Mueller. She married Gerard Peters on July 19, 1985, in Bartelso and he survives in Carlyle.

Marilyn is also survived by 2 daughters – Lelette Spihlmann and husband David, Jr. of Aviston and Amanda Foster and husband Ryan of Peoria; 5 grandchildren – Landric, Indrina, and Dayceon Spihlmann, and Elizabeth and Stephen Foster; her siblings – Phyllis Berkel and husband Ray, Barbara Kaiser and husband Charles, Ruth Nikolauzyk, Vivian Wisdom, Michael Mueller and wife Linda, Agatha Isaak and friend Ken Dierkes, Claire Dinkelman and husband Gene, Norbert Mueller and wife Bonnie, Monica Villy and husband Al, Mark Mueller and wife Nina, and JoAnn Greer and husband Patrick; and a sister-in-law – Darlene Mueller.

Mrs. Peters was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers – Leon Mueller and Tom Mueller; and 3 brothers-in-law – Jim Wisdom, Ken Nikolauzyk, and Jerry Isaak.

Marilyn was a member of St. Teresa’s Church in Marydale, and also attended and sang in the choir at St. Anthony’s Church in Beckemeyer. She had served in the United States Army from 1976-1980, and worked at the Centralia Post Office until her retirement in 2009. Marilyn loved spending time with her grandchildren, enjoyed quilting, and was active in her card clubs and the Red Hat Society.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, June 6, 2016, at St. Anthony’s Church in Beckemeyer with Fr. Lawrence Nickels, officiating. Visitation will be held at Zieren Funeral Home in Carlyle from 2:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, June 5 and from 8:00 – 9:30 A.M. on Monday, June 6.
