Gregory J. Carter Sr. age 62 of Greenville, passed away at 8:05 p.m. Friday, December 21, 2018 at Greenville Nursing and rehab with his wife Cindy and Daughter Calais at his side.
A gathering of friends will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home. For those who desire memorials in Greg’s memory may be made to the Greenville Nursing and Rehab Center at Donnell-Wiegand. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at The Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Ward Sussenbach officiating.
Gregory Joseph Carter Sr, the son of Russell Anthony Carter and Lucille Amalia Wonsewitz Carter, was born on February 25, 1956 in DePaul Hospital in St. Louis.
Greg grew up in O’Fallon, MO and St. Charles attended the Assumption school and from Fort Zumwalt High School. Early in life Greg did the lights for bands. He moved to Edwardsville and was a cook at the St. Louis East Truck Stop in Troy, Illinois for over 35 years. Greg enjoyed playing the guitar, vacations with his family, working around home and his HO train set.
Greg and Cindy Marie Perry were united in marriage on December 3, 1987 at the bride’s home by Darryl Bolen and have enjoyed over 31 years together. Cindy survives as do his children: Calais Amalia Marie Carter of Greenville, Gregory J. Carter Jr. of Portland, Oregon, step son Dustin Allen Perry of Beneld, sister Christina Carter and brother Russell A. Carter Jr., both of O’Fallon, MO.
