Irene O. Maue, age 85, of Breese, died Saturday, January 5, 2019 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon.
She was born July 24, 1933 in Breese, a daughter of the late Joseph G. and Sophia, nee Hollenkamp, Maue.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Ann Langhauser and husband Gene, Joseph Maue, Gregory Maue in infancy, Eugene Maue and wife Mary, Bernice Huelsmann and husband Vince, Harold Maue and wife Vera, and Aloys Maue and wife Dolores; brother-in-law, Ralph Beckmann; and sister-in-law, Julia Maue.
Surviving are her siblings, Jeanette Beckmann of Germantown and Donald Maue of Breese; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Maue of Breese; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Irene retired as a secretary at Scott Air Force Base. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and Altar Sodality in Breese, where she served as sacristan, eucharistic minister, lector, and lay minister, and the HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary. Irene could often be seen visiting and taking communion to those who were homebound or in the nursing home.
Memorial Mass will be Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese with Fr. Chuck Tuttle presiding. Interment will follow in St. Dominic/St. Augustine Cemetery in Breese.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 10, 2019 from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese.
Memorials may be made to St. Augustine Catholic Church and will be received at the church or through Moss Funeral Home in Breese who is serving the Maue family.
