Hulda V. Jernigan, age 83 of Greenville, passed away at her home Monday, April 26, 2021.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 1, 2021 at the Donnell – Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville. Pastor John Heston will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. Auburn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. Saturday at the Donnell – Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville. Huda Vance, the daughter of Harry Leroy DeSherlia and Thelma Earline Cole DeSherlia, was born on May 11, 1937 in Houston, TX. She lived in Texas as a young girl then the family moved to Woodriver. Illinois. They moved to Edwardsville where she attended Edwardsville Schools and High School.
Hulda married Edward Poore and divorced. She married Sherman Ralph Jernigan. He preceded her in death on August 11, 2008.
Surviving is her son, Harry Poore of Florida and daughter Paula Parker and husband Lafayette of Tennessee. She is also survived by her sister Nancy Holcomb and husband Ray and sister-in-law Rosemary DeSherlia. Grandmother to Nikki Moore and Michelle Green and husband Michael. Great-Grandmother of Krysta Barrett, Madason Barrett, Kylie Moore, Michael Green, Maxwell Green, Memphis Green, Joseph Cope, Ethan Cope and Brayden Cope. Great-great-grandmother to Jaylin James, Amoriana James who passed away, Kannon James, Kay’Dason Webster and Tay’Shaun Griffin.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Albert DeSherlia and sister in infancy Sylvia Jean DeSherlia and her great-granddaughter.
Hulda was known by so many kids in Bond County, she loved driving the bus for the schools for many years.
