Melvin A. Flamm, age 90 of Smithboro, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at Greenville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Greenville.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 1, 2021 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Greenville. Interment will follow in Mt. Auburn Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Saturday, July 31, 2021 at the Donnell – Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville. Memorials may be made to VITAS Hospice or the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church Building Fund.
Melvin Arthur, the son of Phillip C. and Emma F. (Noll) Flamm, was born June 1, 1931 in St. Louis, Missouri. Melvin grew up on the family farm south of Millersburg, Illinois. Melvin attended Bond County Schools and graduated from Mulberry Grove High School.
Melvin and Virginia Arlene (Allen) were united in marriage on July 11, 1952. They have enjoyed 69 years together. Melvin farmed most of his entire life. He and Virginia were members of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, and he was a past president of the church. He also served as Pleasant Mound Township Supervisor and was past-president of the school board. He was also a collector of John Deere Antique Tractors.
Melvin and Virginia have 6 children: Barbara Schenning of Springfield, Ohio, Linda Flamm of St. Louis, Missouri, Allen Flamm who passed away, Michele Seiberlich and husband Paul of Highland, Illinois, Jeffrey Flamm of Greenville and Jennifer Collmann of Highland, Illinois. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren: Elizabeth Schenning, Julia Schenning (Robert Parenti), Abbigail Flamm, CarlyAnn Flamm, Madeline Flamm and Hunter Seiberlich and a daughter-in-law Joyce Schlemper.
