Carol Ann Mosar Young, age 69 of Greenville, passed away Saturday afternoon, October 9, 2021 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon, Illinois.
Carol was born in Queens, New York on November 19, 1951 and she was immediately adopted by Joseph and Ruth Mosar, of Rochester, New York. Carol grew up in Rochester, attending Penfield High School, graduating in 1969. Carol attended college at the University of Missouri, in Columbia, Missouri where she graduated in 1972 with a degree in elementary education. She later obtained a master’s degree in elementary education from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville in 1978.
Carol was a teacher at Greenville Elementary School for 34 years, where she taught kindergarten for a majority of those years.
Carol was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Mosar, her mother, Ruth Mosar, and her birth mother, Dora Hartwell.
Surviving Carol are her husband of 30 years, Richard, of Greenville; daughter Christy and husband Todd Noren-Hentz of Lineville, Alabama; daughter Amy and husband Jason Macak of Robinson, Illinois; son J.R. and wife Annie Hentz of Pocahontas, Illinois; step-daughter Mandi and husband Raymond Voegele of Maryvale, Illinois; step-daughter Julie-Rose and husband Will Tedrick of Newmarket, Suffolk, United Kingdom. Grandchildren: Carter Noren-Hentz, Jack Hentz, Rhys Hentz, Madison Macak, Lincoln Noren-Hentz, Phoenix Josephine Voegele, David Tedrick and Nora Tedrick.
Carol was a member of the Greenville First Christian Church, where she served on the pre-school and daycare board.
Carol loved spending time with family and friends. Friends were like family to Carol.
Carol also enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers. She would spend countless hours planting annuals outside her home on 3rd Street.
She was also an avid yoga participant at Studio Ananda and a member of the Golden Girls walking club. She enjoyed baking pies and cookies for her loved ones.
