Marvin L. “Bud” Hasenmyer

Marvin L. “Bud” Hasenmyer, age 89, of Greenville, passed away Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Cedarhurst in Greenville.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at the Donnell – Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville. Rev. Tom Ryan will be officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Auburn Cemetery with full military honors by Bond County Veterans. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at the Donnell – Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville. Memorials may be made to Mt. Auburn Cemetery Association.

Marvin Louis, the son of James Arthur and Mary Belle (Byrne) Hasenmyer, was born October 12, 1932 in Spencer County, Indiana. Marvin was raised in Spencer County, attended the local schools and his family were members of the Tennyson Free Methodist Church. At the age of 13 his family moved to Tennessee for 2 ½ years and in September of 1948 to Greenville. Marvin attended and graduated from Greenville High School with the Class of 1951. He then attended Greenville College before enlisting in the United States Army on January 19, 1953. Marvin served our country for two years, receiving the National Defense Medal and was honorably discharged in January of 1955.

Marvin and Joyce B. Graff were united in marriage on September 5, 1952 at the Greenville Free Methodist Church. They enjoyed almost 59 incredible years together farming, traveling and enjoying their family and grandchildren before Joyce passed away August 13, 2011. They had 2 children, Stephen L. “Steve” Hasenmyer and Margaret J. Hasenmyer.

Marvin farmed beef and grain in LaGrange Township since 1961. He worked for Pet Milk in shipping and receiving for over 30 years, in total working for Pet Milk, now Mallinckrodt, for over 48 years before retiring. He was a member of the union and a long-time member of the Farm Bureau, VFW and the Greenville Free Methodist Church.

He is survived by his 2 children, Steve, wife Donna, of Greenville, Margaret, of Springfield, OH, grandson Jeffery S. Hasenmyer, wife Samantha, of Greenville, granddaughter Ashley N. Orr, husband Andrew, of Woodriver, sister Mary Ann DeStefano of Mt. Morris, sister Jane Maxwell, husband Clinton, of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Also surviving are his grandpup, Scooter, and great-grandpups, Norman and Hallow.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary, wife Joyce, sister Catherine Hasenmyer, brother-in-law Anthony DeStefano, and a sister, in infancy, Carol Sue.
